Twitter Tips: Looking Beyond the Profile
On Twitter would you know from my profile everything that is of interest to me? There can only be one answer to that, No, so why say this??
When we are searching for tweeps to follow, we don’t want to assume because it’s not in their profile that they’re not interested in what you do or chat about. There are only 160 characters that can be added in a profile so you’re not going to get it all in there.
I’m into : water skiing, football (playing not watching), speed driving ( not on roads) Fast Cars, horse riding, personal development, cooking, dress making, social care, music, singing, playing the guitar, dance and lots more.. all the shorts of things my profile cant tell you.
My point being, many people say I’m not following them because their profile is of no interest to me…. then you’re missing getting to know the person behind the profile. If you are in sales and are promoting your website, each person you choose not to follow, you are missing a potential sale.
Twitter is social networking, this works most effectively when you chat and get to know people, what they are behind the profile. A network reaches out and connects, which is why it is called social networking.
Make friends and leave all your adverts if you have them just to your timeline.
Don’t spam!!!! Meaning stop sending your links to people saying visit MY website, if your website is good enough, people will go without you having to beg.
Follow back: you don’t have to watch your timeline all the time especailly when you’re busy chatting with others on your @mentions so help everyone and follow them back, you’ll meet some great people. I’ll do some tips on that soon!
Just have a look at your timeline now and then to find new friends and retweet articles that you have found of interest.
